
Oak Curtain Crust Fungus (Hymenochaete rubiginosa)
Tentative ID, but I'm fairly confident.
Fresh specimen on a fallen oak branch in a dense mixed forest. Almost fully resupinate. Young edges are quite fuzzy.
Turns black immediately on contact with KOH. Setae are visible under microscope.
My microscope is officially dying (it didn't survive the move), so it looks like I'm in the market for a new one (hopefully with a camera attachment). For an idea of what I saw:
