Scarabfly (Cardiacera sp.) A fly with black patterns on wings and thin white thoracic marginsand slightly long legs. Antennae were pointy and black tipped. The fly was about 8 mm long.<br /> Spotted on a gum tree in a park.<br /> Larvae of these flies are said to be parasitic on scarab beetles, hence the name scarabfly. Spotted on a gum tree in a park.
Larvae of these flies are said to be parasitic on scarab beetles, hence the name scarabfly. Adult flies in this family are said to be nocturnal but are see out in daylight while they mate.
