Phalangopsinae with mega antennae, Andasibe, Madagascar This seems a pretty paranoid katydid. Hard to see, but its front antennae which extend downwards in the frame, still do not fit in the photo. That means it's at least 5 times its body length. Yet there's also the lengthy cerci, the antennae-like appendages on the other end of the body, which seem unusually long. Both the antennae and the cerci's main function are to sense the environment so this little creature makes giant sweeps of its environment. 1. That's wild! I've never seen a katydid with such long antennae! Posted 6 years ago
    1. I think I've seen a few that come close but this still could be the lengthiest, didn't really keep track of it. I was above all surprised by the long "antennae" coming out of its hind. Posted 6 years ago

        1. Oh, and I think this may actually be a cricket. Posted 6 years ago
