  1. I'm not sure, but I think these are called carton nests... Posted 5 years ago
    1. I'm not going to say yes or no to that, as I'm not 100% sure either. Our guide called it an ant nest. Checking reference images, ant nests on trees do look like this, or at the very least similar. It's actually still on my todo list to understand the difference, as I'm really not clear. 1. Oh, sorry- yes, definitely an ant nest. But, I thought that arboreal ant nests were called "carton nests" maybe. Or, maybe not. I looked it up but can't find an exact definition of the term. Posted 5 years ago
        1. Oops, sorry I thought carton means termite nest. Posted 5 years ago
          1. I think it does refer to termite nests. But, somewhere, somehow, at some point in the past 41 years, I remember someone referring to arboreal ant nests as being "carton" nests. Of course, I could just be remembering incorrectly. A common occurrence for people my age, no? ;P Posted 5 years ago
            1. I'm sorry, what were we talking about again? Posted 5 years ago
              1. I have no idea. Posted 5 years ago
