Malagasy tree boa, Pyreras Reserve, Madagascar A beautiful specialist of about 1.5m in maximum length, non-venomous. In dutch it&#039;s named the &quot;dog head boa&quot;, I&#039;m still not sure why. It does have an unusually large head and Ive&#039; also read its infra red receptors to detect prey are unusually large. It feeds on small mammals and birds.<br />

Malagasy tree boa, Pyreras Reserve, Madagascar

A beautiful specialist of about 1.5m in maximum length, non-venomous. In dutch it's named the "dog head boa", I'm still not sure why. It does have an unusually large head and Ive' also read its infra red receptors to detect prey are unusually large. It feeds on small mammals and birds.

  1. It's head does looks like the head of a dog, doesn't it? Posted 6 years ago
    1. Not sure, I'd be pretty concerned if my dog looks like this. Joking aside, it does have a robust dog-like head, agree. Posted 6 years ago
      1. Ha! I should have said that the head is reminiscent of a dog that you would see in a horror movie. Definitely a cool head for a snake to have though. Posted 6 years ago
