Globular Gall - Phylloxera sp.
I spotted several of these galls on hickory (Carya sp.) leaves. Some were cream-colored, while others were pink, like this one. The underside of the gall has a slit for the mature insects to escape through - an important feature since they don't have chewing mouthparts.
Habitat: Hickory (Carya sp.) leaves in a deciduous forest
