Nile Crocodile in Madagascar I don&#039;t like this photo at all, but I&#039;ll use this as a chance to talk about this specie in Madagascar. It&#039;s common in mainland Africa, yet very rare in Madagascar, only existing in isolated pockets in the north. It&#039;s special for being so rare, but also for being a lemur hunter hiding in caves. That&#039;s exceptional behavior for a crocodile. <br />

    1. Thank you Claire for relating these photos! As for identification, JungleDragon is not able to link to sub specie pages, so it's ok. I was just being curious :) Posted 12 years ago
  2. I was quite astounded to learn that this particular crocodile had already attacked and sometimes killed many of the local villagers as they bathed or did their washing in this lake. Even more suprising is that they had not killed the crocodile. I dont remember the full story but I think there was a 'fady' attached to it.

Now I am waiting in eager anticipation to see if you post a photo of the Greater Bamboo lemur, I see that for the first time in six years it has been taken off the worlds 25 most endangered primates list...good news huh!

    1. I do have photos of bamboo lemurs, not sure if it is the greater one. I'm posting the Madagascar photos in sequence, a few per day, so I hope you have a little bit more patience :) Posted 12 years ago
