Woolly Aphid

I saw these tiny insects floating around, like little wisps of cotton wool in the breeze. I had assumed perhaps seed heads, until my macro lens afforded me a better view. This little character took me on quite a chase through the foliage, as I tried to get a shot. Not the sharpest, but if I ever was to believe in fairies, back then would have been the time!

4mm in length.

  Thanks Christine. I'm not one for magic and all that - but I will admit, standing in that grove one summer's day with hundreds of these ethereal little beings floating everywhere was something quite special. In other words, the closest I'll come to talking 'fairies' ha. Posted 6 years ago
