  1. Beautiful!

I'm not sure that this ID is correct, however. Pyronema omphalodes is found on burnt/scorched soils and not on wood/bark from what I can tell?

    1. It reminds me of Pycnoporus cinnabarinus. I wonder if it occurs in Aus? Posted 6 years ago, modified 6 years ago
      1. Very good point. Could be immature fruiting bodies. There are several Trametes (the changed name/synonym) in Australia, yes. I'd check out the Mushroom Observer map. Posted 6 years ago
        1. Is it Trametes now? I have mine IDed as Trametes, but iNat calls it Pycnoporus. Posted 6 years ago
          1. I guess it depends on whom you ask. MO goes with Trametes (as do some of the mushie experts on the forums..Joan Knapp and Jacob both use Trametes), while Pycnoporus is deprecated. https://mushroomobserver.org/name/show_name/26851 Posted 6 years ago, modified 6 years ago
            1. Ahh, it's so confusing. I'm going with Trametes. I only used Pycnoporus here bc of iNat. But, I trust Jacob, Joan, and MO way more, obviously ;). Posted 6 years ago
          2. Alan Rockefeller also uses Trametes, so I'm not gonna argue with him haha! Posted 6 years ago
            1. No argument there :D Posted 6 years ago
    2. Thanks Lisa - i am not to sure either , that is why I put a question mark on.
I will keep searching for a while and if nothing comes up I will delete the name.
