  1. From what I've read, Celticecis galls are hard to identify at the species level. C. spiniformis is very similar to C. aciculata. C. aciculata is generally narrow (like yours) though, so I think your ID is probably correct, but could be a different species because there are a whole bunch that create galls on hackberry. We need a gall expert to chime in here! Posted 6 years ago
    1. I was between the two, but I leaned towards this ID due to the overall shape. It could POSSIBLY be immature C. spiniformis galls. Posted 6 years ago
      1. From the photos I've seen, I would agree. But, like you said, immature C. spiniformis is also possible. I don't know enough about galls to decide one way or another though. Posted 6 years ago
