Branched Filamentous Green Algae - Cladophora sp.
There are lots of things growing in this shallow stream. The purplish, hooded flowers and green leaf shoots are both skunk cabbage. Plus, there's moss. And then there is the green "scum" covering the top of the water. It looked like Cladophora sp. to me, which is a kind of branched, filamentous green algae. There are probably other things growing there as well...Maybe some cyanobacteria, such as Phormidium sp.?
Cladophora algae is commonly found in streams. It grows attached to the substrate and forms stringy, green mats.
Habitat: Shallow stream in a wetland
