*This photo shows the reddish orange goo that leaks out when the stem is cut. I tried to dig up the root with my fingers, but didn&#039;t have any luck. I&#039;ll have to be more prepared next time!<br />

"Sanguinaria canadensis" is a perennial, herbaceous flowering plant native to eastern North America. It is the only species in the genus "Sanguinaria", included in the family Papaveraceae, and most closely related to "Eomecon" of eastern Asia.
