    1. Got an answer from Gary, will post it on his behalf here:

      "Hi Ferdy, this is either Annulohypoxylon or Hypoxylon. The best way to tell them apart without having to resort to DNA would be to make a cross-section (just slice one in half longitudinally) and then examine the structure to see where it might fit either of these descriptions:
