Rain frog 4, La Planada Nature Reserve, Colombia
Some thoughts on the photography: one of the things I wanted to do better in 2018 compared to 2017 for my frog shots is to not just get the eyes sharp and in focus, but also the nose. This is a challenge, as the distance from the tip of the nose to the eyes is relatively huge, in macro terms.
As you can see from EXIF, I had to stop down to f/20. Which means almost no light, which is then compensated by tripple flash (top, side, side, with top having a diffuser). But not even that is enough, in addition I had to take more distance and then crop back in. At close focusing distance not even f/20 is enough, not even close.
None of this is difficult, it soon becomes second nature as you play with these variables, but maybe it helps someone.
