Grote's Pinion - Lithophane grotei *This photo shows how cold the moth was before warming up in my hand - its antennae and legs are tucked in and its wings are flattened.<br />

My first moth of the season! This moth was cold and it snuggled up in my hands for several minutes so it could warm up enough to fly.<br />
<br />
Total length: ~25 mm. Gray forewings with pale gray shoulder patch. Orbicular spot was whitish gray and hourglass-shaped. It contained two darker gray spots. The reniform spots were indistinct and gray with a slight black dot.<br />
<br />
Habitat: Attracted to a light in a rural area.<br />
