Stickpin lichen on Tag Alder A species of stickpin or whisker lichen on a Tag Alder (Alnus rugosa) stem. Full sun for at least half a day, about 1 meter above the ground, and in a wetland. I was trying to get a photo of the green crust on the alder and noticed these tiny black lichens later. There are stickpin lichens in the genus Stenocybe that grow on alders and form a thin green crust although I do not know if this is one of them.
