Ramalina sp.
This looks a lot like Ramalina inflata except that this species is not known from the US east of the Rocky Mountains. The only other choice is Ramalina sinensis but the large apothecia seem out of place for that species. I have found lichens that key out to Ramalina sinensis not too far from where this one and several other similar ones were found.
This Ramalina was growing on the north side of a Quaking Aspen (Populus tremuloides) tree almost two and a half meters above the ground at the edge of the woods.
