
Andean Coot, La Cocha, Colombia
Within Colombia, only found in the far south between 2000m and 3500m. The colors on the bill and shield (red part) are highly variable, there's lots of combinations of red, yellow and white. Yellow variety adult (and young) found on the same lake:
It can be confused with the smaller American Coot. Main way to tell them apart is that the Andean Coot does not have a ring on the bill. Here's an example of an American Coot showing the ring:

The Andean coot , also known as the slate-colored coot, is a species of bird in subfamily Rallinae of family Rallidae, the rails, gallinules, and coots. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
