Andean Coot, La Cocha, Colombia Within Colombia, only found in the far south between 2000m and 3500m. The colors on the bill and shield (red part) are highly variable, there&#039;s lots of combinations of red, yellow and white. Yellow variety adult (and young) found on the same lake:<br />

It can be confused with the smaller American Coot. Main way to tell them apart is that the Andean Coot does not have a ring on the bill. Here&#039;s an example of an American Coot showing the ring:<br />

The Andean coot , also known as the slate-colored coot, is a species of bird in subfamily Rallinae of family Rallidae, the rails, gallinules, and coots. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
