Mushrooms - Mycena sp. I wish I knew the species on these! They were growing in a cluster on rotting wood in a mixed swamp. The older mushroom caps were very dark brown and shriveled, while the younger ones were light brown. <br />

  1. Beautiful composition! Some photos have that little extra "x-factor", this is definitely one of those!
    And yes, found it :)

    1. Thanks Ferdy! This is another shot that I nearly skipped posting because the big yellowish green blob on the left was really annoying me ;P Posted 6 years ago
      1. You mean the beautiful bokeh :) Posted 6 years ago
      2. Forgot the smart-ass remark: trivial to fix in RAW.
        Sorry, I'm mean today.

        1. Lol, are you experiencing IMS?

I think I forgot to mention that I tried shooting RAW. It was a disaster, probably because I took a truly hideous RAW photo and tried to process it. The end result was so bad that I was tempted to throw my monitor out the window. But, have no fear, I will try again. But, really - are the ugly, background, blur-blobs fixable in RAW?

          1. Oh, and in case you don't know, IMS stands for Irritable Male Syndrome. Posted 6 years ago
            1. I tried to look it up but couldn't find it :) Posted 6 years ago
          2. Well, I really think that this is normal bokeh which most people find beautiful, or at least not ugly or distracting. If it's the color of that blob you're bothered with, that can be fixed with selective color replacement, or a more brutal approach is an adjustment brush.

One day when I find some time perhaps I can help with some RAW stuff.

            1. Oh, well - I guess that makes me weird then :). Although, I do love a nice bokeh. Posted 6 years ago
  2. Maybe Mycena inclinata group or something close? Posted 6 years ago
    1. Thanks for the suggestion, Lisa! Mycena inclinata grp would make sense. And, I'm fairly certain that the wood was probably oak. Posted 6 years ago
