Growing on wood chips in a residential area. This particular mushroom was undergoing deliquescence (and has dried out a bit from the sun), a key feature of the Coprinellus genus. Deliquescence is the act of liquefaction (in this case via enzymes). This "self-digestion" usually occurs after spores have been released.
