Leopard Jumping Spider, La Isla Escondida, Colombia
It's a well known fact that jumping spiders are amazing hunters. Yet this observation is a display of a skill we did not know about. When discovering a jumping spider, they soon discover you. After that it's typically a game of hide and seek as you try to keep finding it again as it navigates across a complex 3D scene of leafs.
This jumping spider didn't have the luxury to torment us as it just had caught fresh prey. Instead of abandoning it to flee, it took this giant prey and jumped a few "stories" both up and down on different levels of foliage whilst carrying the prey. Effortlessly.
