Mycena on rotten wood, La Isla Escondida Not sure if just me but this photo messes with my sense of depth. The right part of the rotten branch seems cut off digitally, as if the pixels are erased. It looks very unnatural yet it's the original scene. Colombia,Colombia 2018,Colombia South,Fall,Geotagged,La Isla Escondida,Putumayo,South America,World Click/tap to enlarge

  1. The way I see it, the right side is tucked into a slit in the leaf ... but are we sure it is wood?!? Posted 6 years ago
    1. This answer the part "not sure if just me" :)
And yes, it's wood, very rotten wood.

      1. Actually, it might well be a bit off both: The "wood" is tucked into the leaf, but at the same time the leaf may well have cut/pressed into it, resulting in the perceived "cut off" at the top of the wood. Posted 6 years ago, modified 6 years ago
  2. I agree with Arp - I initially saw it as tucked into the slit in the leaf. And, I echo his question - are you sure that's wood? It looks like it might be squishy... Posted 6 years ago
