Muscarella sp., La Isla Escondida, Colombia I figured this to be a lepanthes sp. but it&#039;s another genus of miniature orchids called Muscarella. These frontal angles only show the &quot;lip&quot; of the flowering plant which unfortunately is not enough for species identification. Still, I hope these photos give a good feel of how impossibly tiny miniature orchids are.<br />

  1. That's amazing! I didn't realize that they were so TINY! Posted 7 years ago
    1. Yes, I think a shot like this puts into proper perspective. It's hard to grasp a number like 1-2mm. Yet everyone knows the typical size of a leaf as a reference object. It's just about the smallest thing a person can still see with the naked eye if focusing very closely and not being near-sighted. Posted 7 years ago
      1. It really does put it into perspective. I read the size, but didn't imagine them being this incredibly small! It's really amazing!! Posted 7 years ago
