Very lengthy fungus growing out of dead wood, La Isla Escondida, Colombia
Collected by our guide and brought back to the lodge for photography. Given how thin it was, we really needed a steady surface to properly focus on it. We collected two of such species, as you can see in the closeup shots.

Technical notes, possibly useful for Nikon owners: this one required extreme precision focusing, so focusing was done using live view on a steady surface, then zooming in 100%. This still isn't precise enough for this subject, to really position focus on the front-facing element on the top of this fungi, you can use pinpoint focus mode, which makes the cursor even smaller.
