Brohmelia, La Isla Escondida, Colombia This was just a test shot in the lodge garden before we headed out for a grande night tour, meaning a very lengthy one. I remember this test shot as a marker because this is where I first switched memory cards. A 128GB one filled, in about 3 days. 1. 128GB?? Wow! That is impressive. Posted 6 years ago
    1. It gets worse...double slot. On both cameras. And they all need the fastest write speeds to deal with the insanely large files, which means absurdly expensive cards times many cards. Luckily this investment is past me. Posted 6 years ago

In comparison, my cards are all 32 GB. No wonder your shots are such good quality. The MP must be really high?

        1. Yes, it's insanely high. The D850 is 45.7MP, which produces a file of 8256 x 5504 pixels. For reference, you need almost 3 x 4K screens side by side if you would want to see each pixel. A typical file is 40-60MB, and you can imagine with macro and birding where for each usable file, I produce about 5 unusable ones, things fill up fast. Besides memory cards, you need to scale up everything, so also my computer.

No regrets though, it's hard to go back once you have this. It's hard to demo on a web page, but these two photos:

Thich black and yellow banded millipede, La Isla Escondida, Colombia Numerous at La Isla Escondida, we'd see at least a few dozen each day.<br />

Are really the same photo, I just cropped the second one out of the first one to make a new one :) And as you remember, even on that second one you could still continue zooming to find the tiny beetle.
