  1. Based on Wikipedia and iNaturalist, Chinavia hilaris does not seem to have any presence in Asia at all, so I question whether this is Chinavia hilaris. It sure does look like it though. Posted 6 years ago
    1. I put the name of insects instead of blank with hoping someone will correct it if the ID is wrong. For example, once i put the name of "Humming Bird Moth" in one my previous postings here but someone from Jungle Dragon (Christine Young) said it was a Coffee bee hawkmoth (Pellucid hawk moth)-Cephonodes hylas. Therefore, I just changed the title based on the correct ID given by her. Please do not hesitate to change the title/insect names if you think it is wrong because I am only interested in photography especially for my ages. Keeping busy on my spare times after retirement. 1. JungleDragon is not a photography website. Species identification is a fundamental part of it, and not optional. Without a species ID, your photo will not be part of the species browser, and therefore hardly seen as it's not in the structure. So it's in everyone's interest to try and get it identified, as correctly as possible. Which is a team job.

For every photo on this platform, we should together aim to try to get as close to a species identification as possible. We perfectly understand that everybody has different skills and time constrains, but by being only interested in photography you're essentially asking somebody else to do all the work for your photos.

I know you don't really ask that. You do some research and get several ones right, good job at that. All I'm asking is to keep doing that and in particularly improve the basic research part by including location in your search. Location is everything. It almost always decides whether a proposed species ID is even possible.
