Stenozygum comptum - Photo (c) Kersten Krause

This weekend a friend forwarded two images to me of a Strachiine bug photographed by Kersten Krause on Bali, Indonesia, with a request for help in IDing it. That was an excersise in web searching skills that took me about a day or so with meager results. In the end I contacted prof. David Rider (NDSU) for help with documentation (and his thoughts on the matter of course :o) as not everything that would appear useful is available online. It turns out that the more recent revisions of the Strachiini and of the genus Stenozygum for the Indo-Astralian region have missed to include this species completely(!) so in the end all we have is the original description of Stenozygum comptum from the isle of Flores by Gustav Breddin. Luckily, his publication includes a good drawing that really fits like a glove (as well as the description) and of course Flores is just a small hop away from Bali. Also, all the other species ever described from the region do not (at all) fit so well. So I'm quite confident that this ID should most likely be correct and David agrees.
This makes for the images shot by Kersten to be the first ones known to either of us to be identified as such, so I've asked Kersten for his permission to publish these on the internet and he has kindly agreed to that.
