  1. Excellent to see someone else adding to the Collembola here! :o) I've been meaning to do more, but I need to get a lot of ID checked before I dare upload ;o) Kudos & cheers, Arp Posted 6 years ago
    1. They are fantastic, little creatures. I see them quite a bit on mushrooms and have started taking pictures of them :) Posted 6 years ago
      1. Good initiative - keep them coming! :o) If you have problems with IDs I might have some friends as backup to consult ;o)

        1. Thanks so much for the links! I do have so much trouble with IDing them, which is why I rarely post any. Posted 6 years ago
  2. Sorry had some issues with a duplicate species, should be fixed now. Posted 6 years ago
    1. Ok, thanks. Posted 6 years ago
  3. Hi Christine, Bugguide still lists ornata as "forma" of Dicyrtomina minuta, but in following Frans Janssens' website collembola.org the formas ornata and saundersi are now separate species in their own right, so I'll change the ID to that ...
Will check my images next week if I can find a true minuta ...

P.S. Having a better look, I'm wondering if this might not rather be some Ptenothrix ? Possibly P. beta or P. maculosa ??
Maybe we should ask Frans to have a look, or did you have this one ID'd by him on BugGuide?

    1. Thanks so much for the correction, Arp.

I searched through my images on BG and don't think I ever posted it there, which surprises me because I don't usually go rogue with challenging IDs for creatures, such as springtails. Hmm. Perhaps I should post it there?
