Fruit flies (Drosophila sp.) Feasting on Rotting Mushroom I was checking out this cool, rotting mushroom, when I noticed that there were fruit flies feasting on it. There are two fruit flies in this shot - on the right and left sides of the stem. The one on the left may have overeaten a bit ;P<br />

    1. Thanks! I love rotting mushrooms and find them so gorgeous in a weird way. I love the red liquid oozing out of this stipe, and the fruit flies were just too cute. Posted 6 years ago
      1. I agree that they are pretty cool! Unless they are really acrid smelling...In that case, I usually have to flee the scene :D Posted 6 years ago
        1. True story, lol. I avoid the stinkers. I also avoid the ones that have tons of fruit flies streaming out in your face when you lift the rotting caps. Ugh, that is unpleasant. Posted 6 years ago
