crazy spiky mushroom Amanita sp. come on... I thought for sure this one would be a cinch.. highly scaly with a big ring on the stem, growing on the ground under a deciduous tree.<br />

OK.. I think I have narrowed this down to an Amanita sp. *but* none of the species I can find that have brown scales are said to live here.. *but* this was found in an arboretum, which would have imported plant species, with I guess, the good chance of importing fungi as well.. <br />
