  1. The red things look like the pheromone sex organs of some adult moths. I wonder what is their function at the caterpillar level :-) Posted 6 years ago

      1. I think this is a common feature of the Caterpillars of Kunugia, have seen several of them both in Malaysia and Philippines, not sure if they are of the same species of not. Posted 6 years ago

          1. I see in the email that you previously commented that these organs "are used defensively: to visually startle birds and reptiles. They also emit a nasty odor to repel insects and spiders." It may be the function for the caterpillar, it makes sense. So cool! Posted 6 years ago
