Spear Thistle crowd, Heeswijk-Dinther, Netherlands
Although it is considered a weed, here you can see why as a macro photographer I love thistles: at peak summer, every single flower head attracts a crowd of insects. Here's two bumblebees going in heads-first, and a long-horned beetle I'm only discovering now. In the background are a few thistles past their bloom.
