hmmm - can't find anything that looks similar to this, which leads me to suspect that it may possibly be a garden escapee?

  1. Not entirely sure. Do you have more photos of the entire plant? Looks kind of like the introduced Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)? Posted 7 years ago
    1. I do have a photo of the whole plant, but I took it just for reference, so I haven't posted it, but if the mystery continues I will... It's not purple loosestrife - that I'm familiar with - it's quite tall and showy. This was a small plant - less than a foot tall and the flowers, if they even are flowers, barely noticeable without fairly close inspection - more like magenta tipped leaves. The flowers remind me of paintbrush, but the plant looks nothing like it - it grows more like an herb. Posted 7 years ago, modified 7 years ago
