1. It's quite different from mine:
Schlaeger's Fruitworm Moth - Antaeotricha schlaegeri 15 mm long. White forewings have pale gray bands in basal, median, and subterminal areas. Thorax has an erect tuft of blue-black scales.
Attracted to a moth light in a rural area.
**Sorry for the awful shot, but this moth was in a corner and this is the best I could get. Antaeotricha,Antaeotricha schlaegeri,Geotagged,Schlaeger's Fruitworm Moth,Summer,United States, moth, moth week 2018

But, I read that where they overlap, they can only be differentiated by dissection.

    1. From what I've been reading on the moth forums (from experts), there are other ways to differentiate them. I'm waiting for a response there! Posted 7 years ago
      1. I was just typing back because I just read that too - there is a mark on the costal margin in A. leucillana, and the dorsal tuft is more blackish blue in A. schlaegeri...I'm not sure if those are truly defining characteristics, but hopefully the moth-ers will know! Posted 7 years ago
      2. Total body length is pretty reliable. Antaeotricha leucillana is shorter than Antaeotricha schlaegeri which is 13 mm or so compared to A. leucillana at about 8 to 9 mm. The thoracic tuft is darker almost black in A. schlaegeri and smaller and brownish in A. leucillana. Posted 6 years ago
