
Mushroom - Gymnopilus sp.
Cinnamon-orange, dry, slightly scaly cap with an inrolled margin. Gills were were close with frequent short gills and rusty brown spores. Stipe was a lighter orange/tan color. Spotted growing in a deciduous forest.
It is difficult to identify Gymnopilus to species level. Species in this genus can easily be confused with Galerina marginata, which are deadly. Also, some species contain psilocybin.
