Mushroom - Lactarius sp. Small, soft, pinkish orange cap. Cream/faintly pink stipe with a little mushroom growing off of it. Gills were white/cream, forked, and had short gills frequent. Milk was mostly clear and slow to flow from the gills, but quickly ran out of the stipe when cut. Growing on the ground in a deciduous forest.<br />

  1. Beautiful! What color did the latex stain the gills? Posted 7 years ago
    1. I don't know for sure, hehe. I think tannish? This was a prolific hike for fungi, but the conditions were terrible. It was so hot and humid, I was so sweaty and tired; plus, I literally had blood dripping down my legs from mosquito bites and a smashed knee (rock meet knee...ouch!), I was covered in mean, biting flies, AND my kids were whiny. Sooo, I didn't stick around, but was shooting each mushie at warp speed. Posted 7 years ago
