White-Tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) - Doe and Her Fawn
An intimate moment between a mother and child! A shot of the fawn nursing! Unfortunately, I only had my macro lens with me during this hike, so the pictures were not as wonderful as I would have liked!
These two were out on a peninsula in a wetland in Gwinnett County, GA.

The white-tailed deer, also known commonly as the whitetail and the Virginia deer, is a medium-sized species of deer native to North America, Central America, and South America as far south as Peru and Bolivia, where it predominately inhabits high mountain terrains of the Andes.

@Lisa: it's a really great feeling when being still in the field for a while and being rewarded by such a moment. It's like seeing the pure natural moment as the deer is likely not aware of you. Posted 7 years ago
Unfortunately my friend and I (despite being very quiet) drew the attention of a couple of other people (this is a wetland trail just outside of metro Atlanta). They proceeded to let out lots of loud OOOOHS & AHHHs...which then startled the pair and caused the nursing session to end. :( Posted 7 years ago
