Golden Caddisfly, Heesch, Netherlands Found on a brick wall last Friday night. Based on its hairy wings and roof-like folded wings, this is likely a caddisfly, not a moth. About 5mm in length, relatively short antennae, wings golden with a black pattern.
Things are not looking good to get this identified. This entire order of insects is pretty obscure and I'm not finding quality resources. This may explain why we only have a single caddisfly identified on the platform.
Confusingly in dutch we call this group "shoot moths", whilst they are not related to moths. It is assumed they shared a common ancestor with butterflies, not moths. Europe,Heesch,Netherlands,World Click/tap to enlarge
