Dolophones sp. wrap-around spider A unique and fascinating genus of spiders native to this country and Oceania. They are called &#039;wrap around spider&#039; because they wrap very closely around a twig when at rest thanks to their concave abdomen. Their colouring and markings provide for excellent camouflage and are therefore very difficult to spot. I have only ever found two - this one was easier as I happened upon it when it was between rocks in a wall of my garden. I chose to photograph and present from this angle to showcase the wonderful markings and pattern on the dorsal abdomen. <br />

  2. If you're sure enough about Dolophones tuberculata we can create a species record for it? Posted 7 years ago
