Roundback Slug - Arion sp. AKA: Poor Man's Peaches and Escargot Sans Coquille

This roundback slug is lucky that I am the one who came across it, as there are many people who harvest and eat these slugs! Apparently, deep fried slug is a particular favorite among slug eaters. Alas, this slug will live to see another day :) Geotagged,Spring,United States, arion, land slug, orange, orange slug, roundback slug, slug Click/tap to enlarge

  1. Did not expect them to be seen as a delicacy! Posted 7 years ago
    1. Although, maybe not a "delicacy" as much as a necessity? Posted 7 years ago
  2. So pretty!

*gags at the thought of fried slugs* I'd normally entertain the issue of fresh-foraged food, but I don't even want to imagine the texture of these. @_@

    1. Exactly. Ugh, too gross. I'd rather eat them fried than in soup though.

Have you ever eaten snails? They are rubbery - kind of like squid, but I think slug would be more gooey and squishy.
