Undescribed Species (Amanita section Vaginatae) Found growing below red oaks and pines in a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest in NW Georgia (Gordon County), US.<br /> <br /> This specimen is on the way to an expert in New Jersey after it garnered some interest on Mushroom Observer. It is likely in Amanita section Vaginatae. The differing color zonations/rings on the pileus paired with a distinctive umbo tipped off Dr. Rod Tulloss to a possible new species. I&#039;m glad someone else knows these things. I&#039;m SUCH a newbie when it comes to this genus!
