Impression of the Yellow-Eared Parrot Bird Reserve in Jardin, Colombia. Situated in a cool (as in, cold) cloud forest habitat. The reserve is named after the severely threatened Yellow-Eared Parrot, which is closely associated with the equally threatened wax palm:
The decline of this species of tree (cut down for palm Sunday), has led to the near extinction of the parrot, up to a population low of about 80 individuals. A spectacular conservation success has brought the population back up to 1500 individuals, as last reported in 2012. We managed to get a single shot of this parrot species:
