King Stropharia - Stropharia rugosoannulata
Deep reddish brown caps, purple-gray gills, and a white stem with a thick, cogwheeled ring. I usually find a dozen or more in this location in early June, but on this day, I only found three. They ranged in size from 3-9 cm tall.
Interestingly, Stropharia rugosoannulata is a nematophagous fungus, which means that it is able to trap and digest nematodes.

Stropharia rugosoannulata is an agaric of the family Strophariaceae found in Europe and North America, and introduced to Australia and New Zealand.
