Pursh's Wild Petunia (Ruellia purshiana)
NATIVE. Ruellia purshiana is considered a G3 (globally) and S3 (locally) vulnerable plant and is a rare find in the Southeastern United States.
Habitat: A small population growing at the forest edges by a dirt road. Near a flood plain in NW Georgia (Gordon County), US.. May 23, 2018.
Calyx/calyx lobes: Linear to filamentous, width of 1mm, covered in hairs.
Most specimens have simple stems. Some have one branch. Flowers are born from lower and median nodes (on peduncles).
Ruellia purshiana, the Pursh's Wild Petunia, is a ruellia that is native to the eastern United States.
