Bottlebrush
Most Bottlebrush trees occur in the east and south-east of Australia and will be in flower from spring through summer. The flower spikes of bottlebrushes are made up of a number of individual flowers. The pollen of the flower forms on the tip of a long coloured stalk called a filament. It is these filaments which give the flower spike its colour and distinctive 'bottlebrush' shape. Bottlebrushes attract a variety of birds for both the nectar and seeds produced. This is a 'Hot Pink' variety in my garden.
