Yellow-striped poison frog - top view, Uraba, Colombia
On our last morning in Uraba, we made a 3rd and final visit to the forests behind the university campus. An early catch was this beautiful Yellow-striped poison frog. Not to be confused with the Yellow-bellied poison frog which at face value looks similar, yet is about 1cm smaller.
This species is endemic to Colombia, yet relatively common to this part of Colombia. Still, we only found it once in our entire trip. This species is relatively tolerant to habitat degradation. Adding various perspectives:
The yellow-striped poison frog is a species of frog in the Dendrobatidae family. It is endemic to Colombia.
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, intermittent freshwater marshes, and plantations.
