Appalachian Cave Crayfish (Cambarus packardi) in a cave stream, Kentucky, USA. During cave bioinventories we perform as part of our subterranean biodiversity projects in the Department of Conservation & Research at the San Antonio Zoo, I do a lot of swimming in cave streams. The point of bringing a camera with an aquatic housing is to capture subterranean wildlife as one would see them when working below ground. This is an Appalachian Cave Crayfish (Cambarus packardi) that I photographed in a cave stream, Kentucky, USA. I have worked to develop my skills with "1/2 and 1/2" images in cave streams (half above and half below the water line). This was once of the early results. 1. What an amazing journey this must have been, and I love the split water style!
Question about the species, I'm trying to create a record for it but struggle to find information on Cambarus packardi. Is this a full species or perhaps a sub species? Any reference to its description?
