  1. Well, I have no idea what this is - maybe a spider. It’s not a tick though because ticks don’t have cerci, and you can see 2 tiny cerci on the rear end of this insect. Posted 7 years ago
    1. I was wondering... it doesn't look like a spider, but maybe it's some sort of mite - they have 8 legs too. Ticks seem quite uncommon out here west of the Cascades - all the years I've been hiking I've only seen them on the east side, so it was a bit of a surprise to maybe see one and I don't mind a bit if it's not.
