Chlorociboria-Infected Wood - Chlorociboria sp. Beautiful "blue wood", which is characteristic of wood that has been infected with Chlorociboria fungus. No fruiting bodies were present. I found this wood in a swamp, where I was searching for frogs.
Chlorociboria species contain a napthaquinone pigment called xylindein, which is the reason for the characteristic bluish-green stain that occurs on wood that's infected by this species.
