Black antshrike - female, Uraba, Colombia The female of the Black Antshrike, which has a distinctive look and is a great aid in identifying the male counterpart, which looks very similar to other dark antshrikes. When finding this female, any dark male nearby is very likely confirmed to be the Black Antshrike species. Here&#039;s the male:<br />

Black antshrike - male perched, Uraba, Colombia Near-endemic and only found in the northwest of Colombia. There's a few similar looking antshrikes sharing this male's black appearance. The black antshrike is a species of insectivorous bird in the antbird family Thamnophilidae. It is found in Colombia and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest.
